1//2/09 UPDATE: We'll
kick off the New Year with an item of interest for those of us
who are lifelong Dan Gurney fans:
Revell - Monogram's latest series
of 1/32 scale Limited Edition (3,000) slot cars will feature
the 1965 Ford Galaxie in NASCAR Grand National trim. The first
release is Dan's 1965 Motor Trend Riverside 500 winning Woods
Brothers Galaxie decorated with the famous number 121 usually
carried by Gurney in the race he dominated in the mid-1960s.
Gurney was nearly invincible in a stock car on a road course,
winning the Riverside 500 an amazing 5 times in 6 years (Parnelli
Jones broke the streak in 1967 - but Dan came back a winner in
1968). The Gurney Galaxie comes in a beautifully decorated Presention

UPDATE: Auto Art's long awaited re-release of the 1/18
scale Michael Delaney (Steve McQueen) Gulf Porsche 917K # 20
from the film 'LeMans' is now in stock.
The new version features special
'Steve McQueen Racing' packaging, a new part number (87183) and
some nice improvements to the model itself: The rear spoiler
is now movable and a brace has been installed inside the rear
bodywork, allowing the model to be displayed with the tail section
raised and the engine exposed.

 MICHAEL TURNER ORIGINAL PAINTINGS - We were especially impressed by the exciting set
of paintings created by Michael Turner for this year's annual
Christmas card set. The originals from previous sets have been
highly popular with collectors from around the world and present
perhaps the most affordable way to add a Turner original to a
motorsport art collection.
This year, it
may be a bit easier to aquire one of these paintings than it
has been for quite a while. One of the few economic bright spots
to appear recently is the strengthening US Dollar, which allows
us to offer these paintings about 25% below what they would have

UPDATE: While I
was channel surfing last night, I happened upon Steve McQueen's
'LeMans' as it was just getting started
on Turner Classic Movies. Needless to say, I didn't fall asleep
on the couch (as usual) at 7:30 pm. After the film, I checked
my email and received confirmation that the long awaited 'encore'
production run of Michael Delaney"s (Steve McQueen's) Gulf
Porsche number 20 had finally landed in the US and was on it's
way to TMC. Unfortunately, the shipment won't get here until
Christmas Eve or Boxing Day, but ......

1212/08 UPDATE: Well,
some good news and some great news:
Our 'Air Shipment' of Autocourse
2008/09 has landed in the US and is expected to arrive at TMC
in a few days. We will begin processing orders on Monday.
Due to the recent strength of
the US Dollar, the cover price of Autocourse has been reduced
to $54.95 from $59.95.
That's not all: Due to the recent
decline in oil prices, the cost to fly our advance
shipment over from Europe has dropped as well. We're able
to reduce the price to $59.95 from $69.95.
See, the world isn't coming
to an end just yet.
If you've already placed your
order, not to worry. We will adjust your cost manually when we
process the orders next week. If you'd like to 'upgrade' to an
early copy, let us know asap.
12/8/08 UPDATE: This
week, we took delivery of a major collection of 'sold out' 1/12
and 1/18 scale road racing cars released earlier this decade
by GMP. The collection includes all three 1/12 scale LeMans winning
Ford GT40s, one of the very rare 1/12 scale Andretti/Bianchi
Ford GT Mk IVs and nearly all the 1/18 scale Can Am McLaren M8s
and Lola T-70s and Trans Am Mustangs and Camaros from the 1960s,
1980s and 1990s produced by GMP during that period.
For good measure, the collection
also includes the first 6 releases in GMP's 1/12 scale Dirt Champ
Car series - including Al Unser's Johnny Lightning Special -
and Exact Detail's highly collectible 1/18 scale GT350-R Shelby
Mustangs as campaigned by Mark Donohue.
In all, 50 very collectible
sold out minatures were uploaded to the new 'Collector's
Corner - Rare Finds' section of our Online Shopping Website

I've been saying
all year that 2008 has been a great year for Ferrari collectors.
The two best models we've seen all year have been the 1/18
CMC Ferrari Sharknose
and the 1/18
GMP Ferrari 330 P4.
As we said earlier, the Phil Hill 1961 Belgian GP version of
the Sharknose is in stock ($318.95) for immediate delivery.
GMP has been delivering P4's a few at a time for the past couple
of months. We will have models for the final few people on our
wait list in a few days and there will be a limited quantity
of additional pieces ($269.95) available for Christmas
delivery. First come, first served.

UPDATE: We're in
the process of shipping our advance orders for the first version
of CMC's spectacular Ferrari 156 Dino Formula One car. The #4
Phil Hill 1961 Belgian Grand Prix winner has been produced in a Limited Edition of 6000
pieces and is a solid contender for Model of the Year honors.
